About Us

At rook to knight, everything begins with land — the land we were raised on, the land we love, and the land we hope to help protect for the future. My story starts long before this business ever existed, back when my family worked the soil of old Florida with their own hands.

Rooted in Florida. Growing for Generations.

For generations, my family has farmed, ranched, and cared for this region. My Granny Smith ran one of the most respected dairy operations in Citrus County before establishing a ranch that shaped our family’s legacy. Her strength, resourcefulness, and deep connection to the land are the foundation of everything I do today.

Where it All Began

I grew up learning the old ways — snapping peas on the porch, feeding animals before sunrise, and understanding that land is something you honor, not exploit.

Granny Smith- the woman who taught me that land is family.

Those early lessons shaped my values: stewardship, self-sufficiency, and an unwavering belief that rural life is worth protecting.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

My connection to land began long before I ever studied it. Some of my earliest memories are standing beside my Granny Smith — first on her porch snapping peas, then later in her garden as she taught me how to read soil, nurture life from the ground up, and harvest with the “one for me, one for the basket” method I perfected as a kid.

And even in her final days, when she was too sick to go outside, her hospice bed was placed in front of the glass doors at her request, overlooking the garden, pastures, and pond. The land she cared for her whole life became the view she carried with her until the very end. That image — that devotion — is something I will never forget.

Those roots shaped not just my childhood, but my life’s work. My training in permaculture, organic farming, sustainable land development, equestrian property design, and Florida agriculture only strengthened what I learned growing up: the land teaches you if you’re willing to listen.

Today, I bring both worlds — heritage and education — into my work with homesteaders, landowners, farmers, and families across Marion County and Central Florida.

I help people create land plans that are beautiful, functional, and built for long-term resilience — no matter their acreage, experience, or starting point.

Whether you’re beginning on raw land, refining a small homestead, developing an equestrian property, or trying to protect your acreage from the pressures of development, I believe every acre has a story — and I’m here to help you write the next chapter with intention and care.

Because at rook to knight, this isn’t just consulting.

It’s legacy work.

It’s stewardship.

It’s honoring the land that raised us — and ensuring it continues to raise the generations to come.
